Choosing to manually create a shift schedule, particularly a split shift schedule is a thankless job, one most every manager dreads, however that doesn’t have to be the case. Shift scheduling software allows the manager to quickly and easily assign shifts without most of the associated headaches.. In fact using the right software allows you to perform multiple functions at once, assigning split shifts, shirt rotation and more.
The function is actually very simple; you first search for an employee’s name, choose the days in question, and then choose the desired shifts from a pre-created list. If you are interested in assigning split shifts, you would simply choose that function within the software, since safeguards would prevent this from being a default choice. Once you’ve made your choices, it’s time to sit back and watch the software churn the data, days and schedules.
Like any good software, once you’re completed the first series of selections, you can save (or copy) the settings for future use and/or other employees. What was once a time consuming and tedious task, become simply point and click.
Since the internet is part of our lives, integration an online element is the natural flow, allowing an employee to check their shift. Since this can be performed from nearly any computer with internet access, it can greatly reduce the need for employees to phone in asking about their next shift.
If the manager enables this feature, employees can designate which is their preferred shift for upcoming schedules. Utilizing this feature, the software will assign the preferred shift to the employee, unless there are scheduling conflicts, in which case the employee with the higher authority will gain that shift.
Shift scheduling software utilizes multiple methods allowing the manager to have the greatest flexibility. Most managers report the software is easy to use and greatly reduced their workload.
