It is not uncommon for most people to suffer from an earache. Its is very general to see ear aches in children. A number of things could cause such pain. Some of these earache causes include prolonged exposure to loud music, polluted water getting into the ears from swimming in dirty water, or unusually high levels of bacteria buildup in the ears. In any one of these cases, the earaches seem to last for indefinite periods of time. To help ease the pain, you have to keep up on earache home remedies for quick relief.

One quick fix that you could take is Tylenol. Tylenol is usually recommended for children who have infected ears. There are other pain medications that you can use but some of them, like Advil, could aggravate your earache. Take note that a pain medication that contains acetaminophen is your best recourse and not those that contain ibuprofen.

In case there is no Tylenol in your medicine cabinet, you can try soaking garlic cloves in sesame oil and heating the mixture up a bit. Do not heat this mixture up to boiling point, you only want it warm to the touch. You can use the warmed oil by putting a few drops into your aching ear while you are lying on your back. After holding your position about ten minutes, you can shift to your other side and repeat the entire process on your other ear.

You can also use onions as an earache treatment. You can do this by putting a whole onion in the oven and baking it until it is hot. You can then let the onion cool and then get a piece of cloth to wrap it with. Hold this up to your ear for a few minutes. This could help you get rid of any bacteria that has taken root in the aching ear since onions are known for its natural antibiotic properties like garlic.

You can also try a decongestant medicine, like Sudafed. These medicines can help drain the ear of any excess material.

If you find that an earache home remedy is ineffective, go and see your doctor so that you can get properly diagnosed and treated for your problem.
